FOURPAW · HARNESS FIT GUIDE

Start with the measurement. Finish with movement.

A useful fit starts with chest girth, follows the product-specific size chart and ends with a short movement check. Body shape matters, so adjust the harness on the dog rather than choosing by weight alone.

Measure chest girth before choosing
Keep straps flat and shoulders clear
Recheck stability after movement

Four checks. One stable fit.

Use the size chart as a starting point, then confirm the fit on your dog.

Measure the chest

Measure around the widest part of the chest, usually just behind the front legs.

Fasten without pinching

Close the buckle carefully and check that fur and skin are clear of the hardware.

Keep contact areas flat

Padding and webbing should lie flat rather than folding, bunching or rubbing.

Check normal movement

Confirm that the dog can stand, turn and walk without the harness shifting or restricting the shoulders.

Measure. Adjust. Move.

A practical fitting sequence for the first wear and later rechecks.

Measure chest girth

Use a flexible tape around the widest part of the chest. Keep it level and close to the fur without squeezing.

Use the product size chart

Match the chest measurement to the SafeWalk chart. Treat weight as supporting context rather than the only measurement.

Adjust both straps

Lay the straps flat and adjust gradually so the harness stays centered without pressing or leaving a large gap.

Run a movement check

Let the dog stand, turn and take a short supervised walk. Re-adjust if the harness rotates, rubs or limits movement.

Dogs with the same chest measurement can have different proportions. Check the harness while the dog is standing and again during a short supervised walk.

Stop using it and reassess the fit if you notice persistent rubbing, restricted movement or damaged hardware.
